MERCEDES-BENZ S-CLASS ELECTRIC CAR 2012

A completely electric version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class could be on its way as the company’s technical boss recently hinted such possibilities. According to reports, the German company is planning to bring out the EV as apart of the next-generation S-Class lineup.
The company has already announced that it has invested $2.8 billion into developing eco-friendly hybrid versions of every model. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class electric is said to be a full electric model though, using no petrol or diesel hybrid assistance.
Mercedes-Benz technical boss, Thomas Weber, hasn’t ruled out the potential of an electric model, saying in a recent Autocar report, “At the moment, we are looking at customer demand”. Even without an electric variant, the new S-Class promises to be more fuel efficient across the range, with the introduction of the first ever four-cylinder S-Class on the list. Badged the S250 CDI, it will feature a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 150kW of power and 500Nm of torque. Other revisions to the new model include V6 and V8 MoVe petrol engines as well as a plug-in hybrid version. The new model is expected to debut some time in 2013.
